For many, a return to the office this year will also require a return to the dry cleaner. But do your refreshed suits and blouses really need to come back wrapped in single-use plastic?

They don't at President Valet, a dry cleaning shop in Washington DC where customers can bring their own garment bags for laundered items to be returned in. They can also purchase dark green reusable bags on site.

President Valet became the first local area business with a "DC Reduces" sticker in the window telling customers they can bring their own bags and containers -- without question or hassle.

DC Reduces is a grassroots initiative started by local residents to reduce single-use plastic and packaging waste in the community. The green and white sticker in the window indicates to customers that the shop is happy to have customers bring in their own bags or other containers.

On a recent visit, it was evident from the many reusable bags coloring President Valet's racks of ready-for-pickup clothing that many people are already choosing this option.

"This is something that many of my customers like, and we are happy to make it possible for them to keep plastic out of the landfills," said President Valet owner Yoon In. "Our hope is to see more business, and more green bags as well, in the coming months as more of our neighbors return to their offices."
